Health and Innovation District New West
Sanquin Health Solutions BV (SHS) is the commercial branch of the Sanquin Blood Supply Foundation and, in close collaboration with partners, develops a campus focused on innovations in healthcare. STONE22 advises and supports the board of SHS in this process. SHS is active in the field of diagnostics, scientific research, and drug development, and participates in various promising start-ups, scale-ups, and other initiatives. SHS is located in Amsterdam West, where the Netherlands Cancer Institute and the Antonie van Leeuwenhoek Hospital are also situated, along with the former Slotervaart Hospital. In order to foster further cross-pollination through partnerships with industry and other collaborators, the concept of a campus development under the name Health and Innovation District New West (HID) has been conceived. Scientists will collaborate with universities and industry in this endeavour to conduct research in four core areas: transfusion medicine, haematology, oncology, and immunology. The significant role of Sanquin and its collaboration with other parties in the fight against the Covid-19 virus exemplifies the potential and value of Sanquin and HID.
STONE22 is involved in the campus development as a facilitator, development manager, and advisor, contributing to concept development, communication and programming, urban design master planning, financial scenarios, and real estate strategy.
