Matrix ONE
On behalf of the Matrix Innovation Center, STONE22 is responsible for the development management and project management for Matrix One. Matrix One will house, among others, SustainaLab, which is a joint initiative of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), Stichting Science & Business, and Matrix. Sustainalab will be a scientific co-creation hub for education, research and entrepreneurship in the field of sustainability. The unique combination of state of the art offices and laboratories as well as the presence of SustainaLab will make Matrix One the ideal environment for companies with a profile in science and sustainability. MVRDV delivered a new and refreshing design with an ambition toward sustainability. The building is virtually energy-neutral, will achieve a BREEAM certification of ‘excellent’, and is demountable – thus enabling later reuse. The building is designed for interaction and the exchange of knowledge. Matrix One is scheduled for completion in June 2022.
