The first circular laboratory building in the Netherlands
Biopartner5 is the Netherlands’ first circular laboratory building, and is located in the Leiden Bio Science Park. It is constructed from no less than 165,000 kg of steel that had formed the supporting structure of a nearby university building for 50 years. The steel was dismantled, moved 750 meters, processed on site, and then reassembled as a ‘donor skeleton’ for the new building.
Development and realization BioPartner5
BioPartner Center Leiden is the incubator organization of Leiden Bio Science Park. It is a foundation that offers flexible office and laboratory space to new and growing entrepreneurs in the life sciences. The research conducted here is primarily focused on the development of pharmaceuticals and vaccines. BioPartner5 was rapidly developed in close collaboration with BioPartner and the architectural firm Popma & ter Steege. The site will be delivered ready to ‘plug and play’ in March 2021.
